Progression

From my initial idea, of having two faces merging together, and having objects from fantasy, and reality on each side, I have developed it so that I think it will look better and maybe get me a higher grade. I have chosen to use my own face, and try to change it into a robotic figure (a bit like terminator). I will have a background which I have made by using traditional block printing, to make a religious background with crosses of all different colours and will be overlapping to give a better effect. I used crosses, because it shows the religious side of fantasy. By researching Banky I have decided to use little colour in my final image, ans use lighting to make it look dark on one side, and light on the other. In the past few weeks I have been doing mini projects, like block printing, and editing pictures of real life people to make them have different effects. I changed a picture to make it look like a cartoon, and made it into a robotic figure, which i could try to do for my final image.

Another effect I tried.

I Researched how to convert an image, to look like a cartoon, and added a background on to it, I used a picture of Barack Obama, I followed the steps and I thought my final image looked okay, so I saved it. I also used a tool, to lasso around his mouth, and make them look like metal, to make them stand out.
In the Background, I used inner bevel, to make it look as if there was a light going through the back.

Mini project #1

In the past few weeks, I have been preparing 3 mini-projects to do, for the next few weeks.
My first project, was comverting a real person (Barack Obama), to a fantasy type portrait, I did this by using a few layers, Obama, and the terminator, i Put the Obama layer on top, and then made it the same size, or near to the same size as the terminator. Once i had done this, i started to cut out sections of the Obama face to reveal the metal beneath, to make it look as if it was a robot, cyborg type portrait. Once I revealed parts of the terminator, i used bevel and emboss, to make it look as if it was on his face, rather than just being there.

New Final design.

My new final design, will be a christian cross all around a pice of paper, merging into eachother, and all overlapping, and in the middle of the Paper, i will be trying to add an Angel type person, which i will be adding the wings onto by adding chalk, this will be contrasting fantasy, and reality, because by using the cross, it is using reality, of churches etc. And by using the angel it will be inputting religious  beliefs, which would add the fantasy part of my image.
I will be trying to use little colour, in my image, and try to use silhouettes to try to put Banksy's style in my own work.

This lesson, I have been updating my sketchbook, and putting in all of my polystyrene blocks, what I have used to imprint Images onto a piece on A3 paper with. Next lesson, I think I will be adding chalk onto the second piece of paper, To give it an effect like a Banksy style image.
Over the holidays, I will be continuing onto adding things into my sketch book and add more writing onto my pages with just pictures on.

What I Have Been Doing

Over the past few weeks I have been researching images by 'Banksy' and how his images are effective, by how he contrasts fantasy and reality, by mainly using silhouettes in his images and using little colour. I have also tried Uncovering parts of a city onto a hilly countryside image, I did this to practise, it helped me because it gave me an idea of how I could contrast Fantasy reality. The pictures I merged together were Urban vs Rural, but it still gave me an idea on what I could do.

In the next lesson I was put into a group where, we were each given individually a sheet of paper, with pictures on, which Mr Parry printed pictures onto for us .I then traced these images onto a polystyrene square. I traced them and then painted over them in colour to print onto a white A3 sheet, or onto a black pice of card.

In the lesson after we continued printing onto the sheets of paper/card, I moved on to my second piece of paper, and changed the image I was printing on, Mr Parry gave me the idea to use the image I printed on to the paper as a background, and have an image of a angel type figure, to represent the religious beliefs, which would represent the fantasy side of my final image.

Final Design

I have decided, that for my final design, I will be contrasting fantasy and reality. The main part of my Image will be a face, which is split by the middle, on one side there will be an avatars face, and on the other side, there Will be a human face, and maybe my face.
Around the centre piece (the face) i will have split the canvas into two, on one side, i will have lots of images of fantasy things, aliens, monsters etc. On the other side, i will have lots of things that are from reality, like famous faces, and well know people etc.
